Drumhillery News Sheet - Jan 2002

Saying of the month
"Our week's not complete till we make it our goal
To honour the Lord's Day and nourish our soul;

Dear Members

As another year draws to a close and a new one begins I want to take this opportunity to wish you God's blessing for the new Year.

We could look back on this year and remember so many things. Some events have had a global impact, like the collapse of the twin towers in New York. Other circumstances have had a national impact like the foot and mouth crisis. However, we recall most those incidents that have had a personal impact.

We remember those who have experienced sadness with the loss of a loved one, or periods of hardship through illness, etc. As a body of God's people it is our responsibility to encourage and support them.

We rejoice with those who have seen times of happiness in their family circle when weddings have been celebrated, or when births have been announced, etc. As a Church we wish them well for the future.

All of us have seen changes in the past year and will experience more in the year to come and we need constantly to be in the place of prayer for oneanother.

Changes take place in our relationships too. We may have made new friends this year. Perhaps we have deepened our friendship with some but grown further away from others.

To be a fellowship of God's people we need continually to deepen and strengthen our relationships with each other. This after all is the mark of God's people "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35) This love can only develop if we take time to establish, deepen and develop our personal relationship with God.

It is Christ who enables us to build a deep relationship of 'faith in God' and a deep relationships of 'love with His people'. It happens as we come to know Christ, and spend time with Him and His people May we make it our resolution for 2002 that the biggest change that will make the greatest impact on our lives this coming year will be in our relationship with God.

I recently came across this song which speaks so powerfully of our need of God and his faithfulness to his people. May it bless and encourage you too.

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the Treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking you as a precious Jewel
Lord, to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all

          Jesus, Lamb of God
          Worthy is your name
          Jesus, Lamb of God
          Worthy is your name

Taking my sin, my cross my shame
Rising again, I bless your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down you pick me up
When I am dry you fill my cup
You are my all in all
